Haldol is a medication often used by the psychiatrists. This is a second generation antipsychotic ( in simple words anti meaning against and psychotic= is a word indicating psychosis)
This medication can have various uses. Most commonly it is used as an antipsychotic whereby it reduces the symptoms like hearing voices, or feeling paranoid or feeling suspiious of others.
It may also be used a mood stabilizer
Another use could be in Tourette's syndrome.
It is a high potency tranquilizing antipsychotic and is variously used to calm down an agitated patient.
